Description

62 Melbourne acts have each created an original 60-second long song about Melbourne to raise funds for Support Act.
Melbourne in 60 Seconds is an epic collaborative effort that was born in lockdown as a positive project during testing times, enabling the broader songwriting community to combine to raise funds for music industry charity Support Act. All pulled together & co-ordinated by the truly majestic efforts of much loved Melbourne musician, singer-songwriter & poet IAN BLAND, who should be incredibly proud of this project & our amazing Melbourne Music Community!

Melbourne in 60 Seconds was a challenge to compose and perform an original song about Melbourne that went for 60 seconds. With the doors open once again and music returning to the stages, the corners, the pubs and the footpaths, the project’s release now serves as a reminder of what a great musical town Melbourne is.
Within the 62 songs, you’ll find offerings reflecting on everything from the weather, the G, pubs and their clientele, Moomba, street lights, communication towers, lost love, lockdown, the lanes, the streets, the suburbs and the city. The performers are as varied as the music; established acts, troubadours, and careers spanning fifty plus years to the emerging and those yet to set foot on a stage. Including: Rebecca Barnard, Rob Snarski with Shane O’Mara, Alison Ferrier & Jeff Lang, Fenn Wilson, Charles Jenkins, Little Wise, Dan Warner, Davey Lane, Angie Hart, Billy Miller, Mick Thomas’ Roving Commission, David Bridie, et all…truly a star studded cast and then some!!

There were only three rules; the work had to be original, relate in some way to Melbourne, with a maximum length of one minute (though the organisers have admitted that some artists believe a minute is 73 seconds, which they’re putting down to inflation. For their part, the originally-planned 60 tracks have crept out to 62.
The organisers say this is a salute to the performers, the road crews, designers, the venues, the pubs, the record stores, all those involved directly or indirectly in getting the music out there – and of course the punters, without whose support there would be no music industry.

All profit from CD sales and downloads will be donated to Support Act.
