What we have here is some genuine backwoods rocket fuel. It’s been brewing for a couple of years in a Footscray shed. Nothing illegal mind you, though some nights it felt that good it probably should have been. The Woodland Hunters distil a heady mix of influences from 60’s guitar wig-outs to swamp rock, 70’s jam bands to raw ‘n’ dusty Americana. The result is a clutch of rocking tunes collectively titled ‘So Far To Travel, So Far To Go’.

The four fellas that make up the band had a couple of ironclad rules when it came to recording their debut EP. ‘Nothing is forced, everything flows’ and ‘if you play from the heart, the songs will hug you back’. Producer Shane O’Mara provided a wise and inspired hand at the helm, and a wide sonic palette to match the ambition of the songs. He even kindly contributed some tripped out space-rock guitar to their track ‘The Future’.

With Leroy Cope on drums, Cam Prestipino on bass, Ross Richard on Guitar and ex San Pebbles member Andrew Tanner on Guitar and Vocals these new songs are played with heart and soul, and there’s more where they came from.
