When it comes to jazz bassists, few have had as much influence on the course of the genre over the past 40 years as Stanley Clarke. From his early years with Return To Forever to his genre-bashing solo albums of the 1970s to his film scoring to his many expeditions into the further edges of the form, Clarke’s unique sound and potent lyricism have instigated more than a few youngsters to try their hand at the instrument.
Stanley has assembled a great band, including guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr., drummer John Robinson and keyboardist Greg Phillinganes along with an A-list horn section (with an arrangement by Jerry Hey), drummer Stewart Copeland, The Eagles’ Joe Walsh.
