Kauflin’s dozen originals sparkle consistently with the sounds of exhilaration and religious devotion.  The bulk are jubilant and modern with accessible melodies tied to rich harmonic grids and uplifting vibes. This record shows signs of maturity, solid composition and a powerful understanding of jazz as a form of expression.

At the center of the album is a three-part suite, “Epiphany”, “Tempest” and “No Matter”, inspired by Kauflin’s deep Catholic faith…These are joyous works, containing some of Kauflin’s most exuberant playing on the album, and are personal reflections rather than incantations to join the flock. It a superb recording. But then everything that Quincy Jones does has that very special touch. This includes the wonderful accompaniment of bassist Christopher Smith and drummer Billy Williams. As if that were not enough guitarists Matt Stevens and Etan Haziza bring formidable articulacy to harmonic content of the songs. – See more at: http://theworldmusicreport.com/2015/01/18/reports/jazz-report/justin-kauflin-dedication/#sthash.Uk88ELOC.dpuf
