Meridian Rising is an imagined musical autobiography of Jimmie Rodgers: the Singing Brakeman, the Blue Yodeler, and the Father of Country Music. Jimmie never wrote an autobiography, so I imagined for him a musical memoir made of small moments recalled in his last breath and scored with the sounds and rhythms he would have heard on his travels as a tent show entertainer, or on the beach at Coney Island, or down in Louisiana where backroom games of Poker and Hearts–The Black Lady–whittled away his good fortune.
