Description

Live In Tokyo contains selected tracks from a concert at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan on December 28, 1985, as the last concert of Tina’s Private Dancer Tour. The sound quality is as good as a studio album because it was recorded from a TV broadcast.  It includes a fantastic version of the Bruce Springsteen cover  ‘Dancing In The Dark’ which Tina used as the encore.

Tina Turner of course enjoyed huge solo commercial success over the next decade with albums like ‘Break Every Rule’ (’86), ‘Foreign Affair‘ (’89), ‘Simply The Best‘ (’91) and ‘Wildest Dreams‘ (’96).  She also launched an acting career with the role in movie ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome‘ (’85), for which she sang the theme song ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero’.  Her autobiography ‘I, Tina’ was adapted into the film ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It‘ in 1993, in which Angela Bassett plays Tina.

She officially retired in 1999 and sadly passed in May 2023, but as with all artists, her legacy lives on!
