This is a really energetic CD and it is readily apparent that the band was having huge fun on the night!
Unlike the Eagles first live album, it contains some sought after live songs that longtime fans will really appreciate like “Midnight Flyer”, “Good Day in Hell”, “Witchy Woman”, “James Dean”, and “Tequila Sunrise”. The mix is a little bit tinny but that can be compensated by turning up the bass on your tuner or pressing the loudness button “on” and is offset by the great performances contained here!
As is often the case with these ‘historical’ live recordings, the sound quality varies…but they definitely capture the essence of the live performance & make you wish you were there in the audience!
Also of note, the tip of the hat to Joe Walsh with the band performing his solo and James Gang era works “Turn to Stone”, “Funk #49”, “Rocky Mountain Way”, and “Walk Away” is more than just an obligation as the Eagles play these songs so well as to actually “own” them on this night!
Admittedly sound not pristine throughout … it’s a little like the live concerts we attended back then…sometimes a bit “rough around the edges”….but well worth purchasing nevertheless we reckon!
