Description

Rebecca Barnard has just recorded her first Jazz Album “The Night We Called it a Day”.  Very pleasingly Rebecca sold out of the first pressing of her new CD – but we have just received more stock …so order/reserve your copy NOW!!  Her recent launch at JAZZLAB was a total sell-out, so keep an eye out for forthcoming gigs via her website.

It is an album of carefully chosen songs dating as far back as 1937. The beautiful arrangements were written by the incomparable pianist/singer/songwriter – Monique diMattina

Rebecca grew up as a member of one of Melbourne’s most loved & lauded jazz families, listening to Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong spending a lot of time in the pubs of Melbourne and Sydney listening to her Dad’s band and eventually getting up and singing with them at the age of 13. At the age of 14 she heard Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan and became obsessed . The cross pollination of musical styles is evident in her music… especially her vocal phrasing.

Since that early start to her career Rebecca has gone on to bigger and better things, performing with Stephen Cummings (The Sports), Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Renee Geyer, Deb Conway, The Meanies, TISM, Kutcha Edwards, David Hosking, Warped, The Audreys, The Fauves, You Am I, and she is most well known for fronting multiple award-winning band Rebecca’s Empire.
