Description
Any recording made by the legendary pianist Randy Weston is cause for celebration. His legacy with jazz music has spanned over six decades and has put him in contact with the lion’s share of progenitors and innovators of the music. Weston’s own ancestral research and cultural appropriation has made him a true link to the roots of jazz,as he made a deep mental, physical, and spiritual connection with Africa.
The Roots of the Blues is a recording from two of the musicians who could tell you the most about those roots of black music, Randy Weston and Billy Harper. Their collective history within the black musical traditions of jazz, blues, and African music makes them perfect conduits for the continuation and evolution of the music.
