Veteran horn blower Maceo Parker marks his 75th birthday with a well polished, big band effort in the form of ‘It’s All About Love’. Maceo has assembled a cast of musicians well versed in delivering slick, on point and sophisticated playing with a healthy side serve of funk! There’s a tasty selection of covers including a Bobby Womack composition, an Isley Bros track, a Stephen Stills & a Stevie Wonder…naturally enough they’re all about the theme of LOVE. By all reports Maceo was in fine form for his recent RAY CHARLES tribute show/s as part of Melbourne Jazz Festival (we also have the DVD of that show recorded in Leverkusen 2010).
