Description
Kev Carmody is one of Australia’s pre-eminent singer songwriters, a storyteller of Aboriginal and Irish heritage. On Friday October 30th he will release his first album in 12 years, Recollections… Reflections… (A Journey). The 4 CD set presented in deluxe packaging with a superb photo booklet is a collection of stories, written and collected over forty years – politically charged, driven by the history of his peoples’ struggles and set on the land he loves.
.
The 40-strong collection of songs, many written decades ago but never recorded until now, explores a huge range of sounds – ‘a discovery of sound’. Many of the instruments on the album were furnished from objects found around the old fruit-packing shed that was used as a studio. Wooden logs, butter knives, bicycle pumps, chickens, and his beloved grandchildren, all make an appearance alongside an array of more traditional instruments in this exciting and eclectic collection.
