Description

Long resident in the US, Hunter checked in to London’s Abbey Road studios in 1995 with the initial intention of recording a handful of songs for a future project. The loose vibes
created by a knockout troupe of sessioneers, including Glen Matlock, resulted in 12 tracks being completed in just a couple of weeks.

The spontaneity had benefits and drawbacks. Hunter previously  had a tendency to over-elaborate some of his ideas, but here the likes of Another Fine Mess and Junkee Love bristle with a
freshness that may well have been lost if they’d been toiled over for any further length of time. On the other hand, a little more thought might have led to meandering boogie-by-numbers nonsense like
Never Trust A Blonde being consigned to the vaults for good.

As usual, Hunter manages to pull off a couple of powerfully emotive ballads in the reflective The Other Man and the sloppy country of Scars, not a million miles removed from Sticky Fingersera
Stones. Distribution problems led to the album being available only in Norway when it was completed, and this version marks its long overdue debut in the UK and internationally.
