‘The Now Now’ is the latest release by virtual band Gorillaz, masterminded by long running frontman Damon Albarn. The allure of isolation defines Albarn’s latest project. With only a few guests on the album, he writes simple, mostly upbeat songs with words of exhaustion. It’s this sense of solidarity that fuels the unique quality of the album (Snoop Dogg and Jamie Principle, on “Hollywood,” are the only vocal features), unlike Albarn’s previous work which features collaborators heavily.
