Singer’s Grave… is a characteristically fine set of songs. Quail And Dumplings has a lively stomp to it and So Far And Here We Are kicks up a real storm. Overall, though, the feel is laidback and reflective. It’s Time to Be Clear is a lovely melancholy country waltz and there’s a feeling of searching and self-doubt on Mindlessness, Oldham singing, “Where do I stand? Is that my voice praying? Am I even still a man?… What is my name? Where am I going? Nobody answers or will look me in the eye.”
