Twenty years ago Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel, two French boys from Versailles (the city not the palace) had their international debut with ‘Modular Mix’ and since then have managed to attach legendary status to their name.
The aptly named, TwentyYears, is out now at Basement Discs on CD and LP. Featuring all of Air’s ‘Best Of’ tracks, whilst alongside some of their rarest, never before heard tracks.The anthology includes one disc of the duo’s hits, plus another disc comprising 14 rare or unreleased cuts. Selections include classics like “Sexy Boy” and “Kelly Watch The Stars,” as well as lesser-known collaborations with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jarvis Cocker and Françoise Hardy, plus recordings of radio performances on BBC and KCRW.
