Description
The Fillmore shows were recorded towards the end of a busy year for Sly and the Family Stone, during which they released both Dance to the Music and Life. Their label, Epic, planned to release a live LP featuring selections from all four shows, but ultimately shelved the project when the band scored a Top 10 hit with “Everyday People” off their seminal 1969 LP, Stand!.
Live at the Fillmore East includes all four sets from those two nights in their entirety. And though there is some overlap, the compilation marks the first official release to primarily highlight Sly and the Family Stone’s live show.
