James Hunter has been around the music industry for nigh on thirty years. Having performed under various monikers – initially as a part of Howlin Wilf and the Vee-Jays then just plain James Hunter – this is his first album release credited to the James Hunter Six. Minute by Minute is made up of classic rhythm and blues tunes full of retro Motown influences that hit all the right nostalgia inducing buttons. Hunters vocals are straight from the 60s and complement the sultry brass accompaniments. I want to call his voice honking in the best possible way it works perfectly with the various horn and saxophone interludes.
